KLA Pembroke Pines Kindergarten
KLA Schools’ Kindergarten program offers continuity to the renowned early childhood education program KLA Schools have been offering for more than 10 years. We are an innovative and progressive institution inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. Through our educational research of variety of curriculums, gathering tools and resources we believe we have found the best way children learn; aligning our vision of children first with local state standards. We work diligently to have our teachers, classrooms, materials, tools, and spaces support these aspects.
Children in KLA Schools reach and go beyond these state standards through meaningful and significant experiences where skills are applied in context. Students achieve not only academic success but also develop essential skills for life. They encounter experiences that promote confidence, independence, collaboration, self-assurance, and self-awareness, where they can practice life skills that will give them the tools to live up to the many challenges that they will face as they grow.

Courses and Program
We will offer innovative spaces where children can be protagonists of their learning process, integrating all of the fields of knowledge: language arts, math, science, social studies, the arts, among others. These are not separated one from another as they are all naturally connected in life. Students see these connections in concrete ways through the experiences, research, and projects that they are exposed to every day. The children will work collaboratively, individually, in pairs, and with the teachers while going through a process of trial and error, discussion, and elaboration of theories where they learn from each other.
Children will be able to understand spoken words, syllables and sounds to begin their process of reading. We will work on learning skills and abilities such as following words from left to right and the recognition of sight words. They will learn to apply their phonetical knowledge and word analysis skills to decode words.
Our students will be able to read emergent-reading texts with purpose and understanding.
Our students will be able to ask and answer questions about a text and retell familiar stories. We will work the concepts of main idea and key details of a text and they will use contrast and comparison of characters and events for a deeper analysis and understanding of a text.
Our students will enhance their knowledge about number, quantity and cardinality. We will work on algebraic thinking through mathematical operations, geometry, measurement and data.
Our students will be able compose opinion, informative or narrative stories using texts and drawings.
They will explore a variety of digital tools to create and publish written stories
Science & Social Studies
In class we will learn about basic concepts of American history, geography, economics and civics. We will also keep studying different materials and its characteristics. Forms of energy and matter.
Enrichment programs include Physical Education, Technology, Coding and Engineering in our specialized studio as well as Music, and Art. Our Ateliers (studios), located in the classroom, offers children endless opportunities to explore with different materials that invite them to express their thoughts and ideas with confidence and creativity. In the Atelier of Digital Thinking children experiment with different tools that foster inquiry and investigation using computers, tablets, and projectors to support and complement their research process. In Atelier of 3D Thinking, the children use materials that transform into 3D creations to support the mathematical concepts and awareness of planning while combining ways to represent their thinking.
